5Pointz (Long Island City graffiti mecca)

5Pointz was an outdoor aerosol art space and graffiti complex located at 45-46 Davis Street in Long Island City, widely recognized in the 2000s and early 2010s as a hub for international graffiti artists. The site featured hundreds of murals and became a destination for street-art photography and tours. In 2013–2014 the building was whitewashed and subsequently demolished to make way for new residential development, an action that drew national attention to issues of public street art and property redevelopment.
