Big Tex (State Fair of Texas)

Big Tex is a 55-foot-tall animated cowboy statue that has served as the official greeter of the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park since 1952. The figure traditionally welcomes fairgoers with a recorded voice and is an enduring icon of the fair. Big Tex was destroyed by fire on October 19, 2012, and a rebuilt 55-foot figure was unveiled for the 2013 State Fair. The statue stands at the main entrance of Fair Park and is on public display during the fair and special events.
