United States Botanic Garden - rare titan arum (corpse flower) blooms

The United States Botanic Garden on the National Mall maintains living plant collections and conservatory displays and has periodically hosted blooms of the titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum), a plant whose flowering events are infrequent and short-lived. When a titan arum blooms the event is widely reported because the inflorescence open only for a short span and is uncommon in cultivation. The conservatory and outdoor plantings are open to the public, but the blooms themselves are ephemeral and can be difficult to predict.
