V. C. Morris Gift Shop - Frank Lloyd Wright Prototype

The V. C. Morris Gift Shop at 140 Maiden Lane, completed in 1948, is the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building in San Francisco and served as a prototype for the spiraling interior ramp later used in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. The small commercial building retains Wright's characteristic design elements, including a circular ramp and custom detailing, and has been preserved and repurposed for retail use. The structure is documented in architectural histories as a unique urban commission by Wright.
