Dilworth Park stormwater capture and permeable paving

Dilworth Park, adjacent to Philadelphia City Hall, was rebuilt with stormwater-management features including permeable paving and an underground cistern system that temporarily stores stormwater. The reconstructed plaza, completed in 2014, was designed to reduce runoff entering the combined sewer system and to improve water quality before discharge to nearby waterways. The project is cited by city planners as an example of how public plaza design can integrate stormwater controls in Center City Philadelphia.
