Island House, Birmingham

Island House was a historic building in Birmingham's Eastside, constructed in 1912 by architect G. E. Pepper in the Edwardian Mannerist style. Originally serving as an office and warehouse for the machine tool company Messrs Churchill & Co, it featured ornate Ionic and Doric decorations. The building housed various arts teams from Birmingham City Council and was linked to cultural institutions like the Ikon Gallery. Despite efforts to preserve it amid redevelopment plans, Island House was ultimately demolished in 2012, marking the end of its century-long presence in the city.
