Empire Stores (DUMBO waterfront warehouses)

Empire Stores is a restored complex of 19th-century brick coffee warehouse buildings in DUMBO that were rehabilitated and reopened in the 2010s for commercial, cultural, and public uses. The adaptive reuse project preserved historic masonry facades and industrial character while adding office, retail, and public rooftop spaces with views of the East River and Manhattan. The development is frequently cited as a prominent example of waterfront revitalization and preservation of maritime industrial architecture in Brooklyn.
