General Staff Building (Saint Petersburg)

The General Staff Building is a striking Neoclassical structure located on Palace Square in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Designed by Carlo Rossi and completed between 1819 and 1829, it features a grand 580 m-long facade and a triumphal arch that celebrates Russia's victory over Napoleon in 1812. Historically, it housed the General Staff and various ministries until 1918. Today, the western wing serves as the headquarters for the Leningrad Military District, while the eastern wing has been transformed into part of the Hermitage Museum, offering visitors a glimpse into Russia's rich history and architectural grandeur.
