Bolands Centre

Bolands Centre is a historic heritage-listed department store located in Cairns City, Queensland, Australia. Built in 1912 and designed by architect Edward Gregory Waters, it served as a prominent retail space, including a David Jones department store and a well-known toy shop. The building is notable for being the last surviving example of a large early 20th-century department store in Cairns and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2006. The Centre reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of Michael Boland, an Irish immigrant who became a leading merchant in Cairns, contributing significantly to the local economy and community development.
