Divine Lorraine (Lorraine Apartments by Willis G. Hale)

Completed in 1894 and designed by architect Willis G. Hale, the Lorraine Apartments are notable for their ornate, polychrome façade and exuberant late-19th-century decorative detailing. In the mid-20th century the building became known as the Divine Lorraine Hotel after a change in ownership and usage. After decades of vacancy and deterioration, the building was rehabilitated in the 2010s and returned to residential use. The building stands as a distinctive example of Philadelphia’s Victorian-era apartment architecture on North Broad Street.
