Lincoln Memorial seated statue

The marble statue of Abraham Lincoln by Daniel Chester French is 19 feet tall from head to foot. The sculpture was carved by the Piccirilli Brothers and the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on May 30, 1922. The figure's monumental scale was intentionally designed to create an imposing, contemplative presence within the memorial chamber.
