Monte Sano Railroad Workers' House

The Monte Sano Railroad Workers' House, built in 1888 in Huntsville, Alabama, is a historic boarding house that served workers of the nearby Monte Sano Hotel and Railroad. This unique structure, featuring a Queen Anne architectural style, is the last remnant of the once-thriving hotel and rail line that connected to the Memphis and Charleston Depot. Originally designed with a saddlebag plan, the house has undergone modifications, including a 1925 addition and modern updates after 1997. Despite the initial promise of the hotel and railroad, both operations ceased by the early 1900s.
