Great Armoury

The Great Armoury, a stunning example of 17th-century Mannerist architecture in Gdańsk, Poland, was originally built as an arsenal and now houses the Academy of Fine Arts. Located beside the Targ Węglowy, this historic building features a striking façade adorned with bas-reliefs of Athena and other military motifs. Constructed between 1600 and 1605, it has served various purposes over the centuries, including a military hospital and a shopping arcade. After significant damage in World War II, it was restored and has since become a vibrant space for art exhibitions, making it a must-visit for tourists and researchers interested in history and architecture.
