Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá

Founded in 1769 by Father Junípero Serra, this was the first Franciscan mission in Alta California. The present Mission Basilica complex includes a church built in 1941, a museum, and restored mission grounds near the original Presidio site. The mission has been rebuilt multiple times due to fires and earthquakes and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
