Atlas statue at Rockefeller Center

The Atlas is a large bronze sculpture by Lee Lawrie installed in 1937 in front of the International Building at Rockefeller Center. It depicts the Titan Atlas bearing the celestial sphere and is prominently sited on the Fifth Avenue plaza near St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The statue is a widely photographed Midtown landmark and a common subject of social-media images and tourist photos.
