Pedro St. James

Pedro St. James, also known as Pedro's Castle, is the oldest stone structure in the Cayman Islands, located on Grand Cayman's southern coast. Built in 1780, this Great House showcases plantation-style architecture and has a rich history, including serving as the birthplace of Cayman democracy in 1831. The site has undergone various transformations, from a courthouse and jail to a hotel and tourist attraction. After extensive restoration in the 1990s, it reopened as a National Historic Site featuring a 3D theatre, landscaped gardens, a visitors' centre, and a restaurant. Today, it serves as a cultural venue for events and offers stunning sea views.
