Hoopes-Cunningham Mansion

The Hoopes-Cunningham Mansion, located at 424 E. Penn St. in Hoopeston, Illinois, is a historic house built between 1879 and 1880 for Thomas Hoopes, the town's founder. Originally designed in the Italianate style, it underwent significant remodeling in 1894 by James A. Cunningham and his wife, transforming it into a stunning Queen Anne style residence featuring a three-story turret and intricate decorative elements. James Cunningham, a notable local businessman and mayor, lived in the mansion during his tenure. The mansion was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1985, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
