National Museum of Women in the Arts founded by Wilhelmina Holladay

The National Museum of Women in the Arts was founded by collectors Wilhelmina and Wallace Holladay to document and promote women artists and opened in 1987. The museum holds a permanent collection, rotating exhibitions, and archives focused on historical and contemporary women artists. It occupies a renovated 19th-century building on New York Avenue NW and is a unique institution dedicated to women’s contributions to the visual arts.
