Francia Great House

Francia Great House is a historical plantation house located in Saint George, Barbados, built in the late 19th or early 20th century by Frenchman René Mourraille. This architectural gem showcases a blend of French and Barbadian styles, featuring a triple-arched entrance, an upper balcony, and a grand staircase. The house is surrounded by beautifully terraced English-style gardens filled with vibrant bougainvillea and hibiscus, as well as orchards. Originally a plantation that grew yams and sweet potatoes, it later became a private school. The house is recognized for its architectural significance and houses antique mahogany furniture and early West Indian maps.
