The Acre

The Acre is a historic house located in Harrisville, New Hampshire, built around 1880 by the Cheshire Mill Company as worker housing for itinerant laborers. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure features a blend of Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles, characterized by its gabled roof, clapboard exterior, and symmetrical sash windows. The house is notable for its historical significance, being a late example of Greek Revival architecture and reflecting the local mill community's heritage. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers interested in industrial history and architecture.
