Ford–Countess House

The Ford–Countess House, also known as the Hezekiah Ford House, is a historic residence located near Huntsville, Alabama. Built in the early 1820s by Hezekiah Ford, who established a cotton plantation, this two-story brick I-house features Federal architectural details and has a rich history tied to the Ford family and their plantation operations. The house includes unique elements such as a gable roof, Victorian brackets, and original Federal fireplace mantels. It was home to a significant number of enslaved individuals in the 1860s and remained in the Ford family until 1904. The Countess family, who still owns the property, acquired it in 1911. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, making it an important site for those interested in Alabama's history and architecture.
