The Abbot's Fish House, Meare

The Abbot's Fish House, a Grade I listed building in Meare, Somerset, is the only surviving monastic fishery building in England, dating back to the 14th century. Constructed between 1322 and 1335, it served as a storage and processing facility for fish caught in the surrounding ponds, which were vital for the monks of Glastonbury Abbey. The building features a rectangular stone structure with a tiled roof and has undergone various restorations after suffering damage from fire and neglect.
