Barratt Hall

Barratt Hall, also known as the Philip Barratt House, is a historic Georgian-style home located near Frederica, Delaware, dating back to the mid-18th century. This two-story brick dwelling is notable for its architectural features, including a center hall plan and arched openings. The house holds historical significance as the meeting place for Bishops Thomas Coke and Francis Asbury in 1784, where they convened with preachers to organize the Methodist Church in America. Philip Barratt, the original owner, was instrumental in this process and also contributed to the construction of Barratt's Chapel in 1780. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
