Hitchcock-Schwarzmann Mill

The Hitchcock-Schwarzmann Mill, located in Burlington, Connecticut, was a historic industrial site built around 1781, notable for being the town's only surviving 18th-century mill building until its demolition. It featured a collection of wooden structures powered by Burlington Brook, initially serving as a grain mill and later expanding to include a sawmill, cider mill, and shingle mill. The mill was operated by the Schwarzmann family until 1972 and was intended to be preserved as a museum by the Burlington Historical Society after its purchase in 1976. Although the mill has been demolished, its historical significance and the remnants of its foundation remain of interest to tourists and researchers alike.
