Braehead (Fredericksburg, Virginia)

Braehead is a historic house in Fredericksburg, Virginia, built between 1858 and 1859 for John Howison. The house, originally named 'Greenview', is notable for its connection to the Lee family, as Howison's wife was a distant cousin of Robert E. Lee. It served as a gathering place for General Lee before the Battle of Fredericksburg. The two-story brick structure features distinctive architectural elements and is surrounded by historical sites, including the ruins of an icehouse. Braehead was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and is part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Civil War history.
