The Survivor Tree at the Oklahoma City National Memorial

The Survivor Tree is an American elm (Ulmus americana) that survived the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, and was rehabilitated and retained as part of the Oklahoma City National Memorial. The tree was stabilized and treated after the blast and continues to live on the memorial grounds, serving as a designated living symbol of resilience. Propagated saplings from the Survivor Tree have been distributed and planted at other sites. The tree stands within the footprint of the former federal building and is interpreted for visitors at the memorial.
