Tule Springs (Floyd Lamb Park) Ice Age fossils

The Tule Springs area north of Las Vegas contains Late Pleistocene fossil deposits where remains of mammoths, camels, horses, and bison have been recovered by professional and amateur excavators. Fieldwork and surveys from the 1930s through the 21st century documented these Ice Age faunal assemblages and informed research on Pleistocene environments in the Mojave. In 2014 the broader Tule Springs area was designated Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument to protect its paleontological and related archaeological resources.
