Cámara Houses

The Cámara Houses, located at 495 Paseo de Montejo in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, are two historic twin townhouses built between 1908 and 1911 in the Beaux-Arts style by French architect Gustave Umbdenstock. Originally a private residence for the aristocratic de la Cámara family, these houses reflect the economic prosperity of Yucatán during the henequen boom. They feature grand designs with a central hall, multiple lounges, and luxurious finishes imported from Europe. Since 2021, one of the houses has been open to the public as a museum, showcasing its rich history and the notable guests it has hosted, including royalty and prominent figures like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The Cámara Houses are a testament to the region's architectural heritage and cultural significance.
