Sri Temasek

Sri Temasek, meaning 'splendour of Temasek' in Malay, is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Singapore, located within the grounds of the Istana. Built in 1869, it originally served as the residence for the Chief Secretary during the colonial era. Despite being designated as the Prime Minister's residence since 1959, no prime ministers have lived there. The house features a blend of European and Asian architectural styles, including intricate timber work and a unique Chinese moon gate. After years of disrepair, it underwent restoration from 2006 to 2008 and is now a national monument. Sri Temasek has hosted numerous official functions and prominent visitors, making it a significant site in Singapore's political history.
