Castro Theatre

The Castro Theatre is a 1922 movie palace on Castro Street with a Spanish Colonial Baroque façade and a neon marquee that makes it a neighborhood landmark. It houses a historic Wurlitzer-style pipe organ from the theater era, which is used for special events and organ performances. The Castro continues to operate as an independent movie palace hosting film festivals, repertory screenings, and live events, and is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
