Detroit Opera House (former Capitol Theatre)

The Detroit Opera House opened in 1922 as the Capitol Theatre and was designed by C. Howard Crane as a grand movie palace and vaudeville house. It was restored in the 1990s and reopened in 1996 as a performing arts venue hosting opera, ballet, and touring Broadway productions. The building's exterior and richly decorated interior are characteristic of early-20th-century theater architecture in Detroit.
