National Archives Building - Charters of Freedom

The National Archives Building, completed in 1935, houses the Charters of Freedom: the original Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, which are displayed in the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom. The National Archives was established to preserve and provide public access to important federal records. The building is operated by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
