Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market

Faneuil Hall was constructed in 1742 as a public meeting hall and marketplace and became known for its role in colonial public discourse. The adjacent Quincy Market arcade was built in the 1820s to expand market space; together they form a historic commercial complex that remains a central tourist destination with shops, restaurants, and street performers. Faneuil Hall sits on the Freedom Trail and continues to be a focal point of Boston's historic waterfront district.
