Athena Parthenos at the Parthenon

The interior of Nashville's Parthenon contains a full-scale replica of the ancient Greek statue Athena Parthenos sculpted by Alan LeQuire and installed in 1990. The gilded statue stands about 41 feet tall and is covered with gold leaf. The Parthenon building in Centennial Park is itself a full-scale replica of the original in Athens, built for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897 and later retained as a permanent structure.
