1 World Trade Center (1970–2001)

The original One World Trade Center, also known as the North Tower, was a prominent skyscraper in Manhattan, completed in 1972 and standing at 1,368 feet tall. It was the tallest building in the world until 1973 and featured the famous 'Windows on the World' dining and entertainment complex on its upper floors. The North Tower was distinguishable by its 360-foot telecommunications antenna and unique architectural features. Tragically, it was destroyed during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, marking a significant moment in history with nearly 1,700 victims. Today, the site is memorialized at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, where the northern pool commemorates the tower's former location.
