The Sands Copa Room and the Rat Pack era

The Sands Hotel and Casino's Copa Room on the Strip was the primary venue for performances by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and other members of the Rat Pack during the 1950s and 1960s. Those regular performances helped establish Las Vegas's mid-20th-century reputation as a national center for live entertainment. The original Sands was demolished in 1996 and the site is now occupied by The Venetian resort on the same block of the Strip.
