Old Academy Building

The Old Academy Building, a neoclassical gem in Turku, Finland, was inaugurated in 1817 for the Royal Academy of Turku. Located in Cathedral Square next to the iconic Turku Cathedral, it was designed by architect Carl Christoffer Gjörwell. The building has a rich history, including damage from the Great Fire of Turku in 1827, after which it was restored and repurposed for various judicial and educational uses. Today, it houses the Court of Appeal and features a Ceremonial Hall managed by the University of Turku, known for its excellent acoustics and capacity of 350, making it a popular venue for graduations and concerts.
