Carpenter's Hall

Completed in 1770 by the Carpenters' Company, Carpenter's Hall served as a meetinghouse for craftsmen and became the site of the First Continental Congress in 1774. The building's timber-frame and Georgian masonry construction remain largely intact and are interpreted as examples of pre-Revolutionary civic architecture. Carpenter's Hall is preserved as a historic site that documents 18th-century public meeting infrastructure in Philadelphia.
