Cattle Depot Artist Village

Cattle Depot Artist Village, located in Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong, is a vibrant community for artists that was transformed from a historic slaughterhouse, operational from 1908 to 1999, into an artistic hub in 2001. The site features distinctive red-brick architecture and houses around 20 art groups, offering a space for various artistic activities including drama, concerts, and art festivals. Although not fully open to the public due to safety regulations, the village hosts events like the annual Cattle Depot Book Fair, fostering interest in Hong Kong's artistic development. The area is managed by the Government Property Agency, which oversees its revitalization and conservation efforts, ensuring the preservation of its cultural heritage while supporting the local art scene.
