Canal Warehouse (Chillicothe, Ohio)

The Canal Warehouse, built in 1830, is a historic three-story brick structure located at the intersection of Main and Mulberry Streets in downtown Chillicothe, Ohio. Once a functioning warehouse along the Ohio and Erie Canal, it features ornate gabled architecture and large dormers designed for efficient loading and unloading of goods. After its operational days, it was repurposed as a clubhouse for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Recognized for its architectural significance and role in local transportation history, the Canal Warehouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and is part of the Chillicothe Business District, added to the register in 1979. This site offers a glimpse into the region's canal-related heritage, making it an interesting stop for tourists and researchers alike.
