Laurel Hill Cemetery

Laurel Hill Cemetery was founded in 1836 and designed by architect John Notman as one of the nation's early rural cemeteries. It was designated a National Historic Landmark for its landscape design, funerary art, and preservation of 19th-century monuments. The cemetery contains the graves and memorials of numerous 19th-century Philadelphia figures and continues to operate as an active burial ground and historic site.
