Kerr Community Center

The Kerr Community Center, originally known as Kerr Hall, is a historic gathering place in Bastrop, Texas, significant for its role in the African-American community during segregation. Built in 1914, it hosted social events and performances by notable artists like blues pianist Roosevelt Williams. The center also served as a USO post for black soldiers during World War II. After being purchased by local citizens in 1946, it was officially dedicated in 1952 and underwent major renovations in 2007, which included a park and playground, making it a vibrant community hub.
