Russ Building (early 20th-century Financial District skyscraper)

The Russ Building, completed in 1927 at 235 Montgomery Street, is a landmark early skyscraper in San Francisco's Financial District known for its Gothic-inspired setbacks and historic office use. For much of the mid-20th century it was one of the city's tallest and most prominent office buildings and anchored the Montgomery Street banking corridor. The building has been documented in architectural histories as a representative example of 1920s commercial high-rise design in San Francisco. It continues to function as an office building and remains a recognized component of the historic Financial District streetscape.
