Mystery Castle and its creation legend

Mystery Castle was built in the 1930s by Boyce Luther Gulley using salvaged materials, concrete, and found objects as a home for his daughter. Gulley moved to Phoenix from Seattle and completed much of the work himself; he is buried on the property and the site later opened to the public as a museum. The castle’s unconventional construction and the story of Gulley’s motivations have made it a longstanding local legend and tourist attraction.
