Whaley House (Thomas Whaley)

The Whaley House was built in 1857 by Thomas Whaley on what is now San Diego Avenue in Old Town and is associated with Whaley's role as an early San Diego businessman and civic leader. Over time the building has served as a family residence, the county courthouse, a general store, and one of the town's first commercial theaters. The Whaley House is designated a California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
