Dr. Jesse Wasson Building

The Dr. Jesse Wasson Building, located in La Porte City, Iowa, is a historic late Victorian structure recognized as the oldest surviving stone construction in the area. Built by Dr. Jesse Wasson, a key figure in the town's founding and development, the building served as his office and has a rich history, including use by the Knights of Pythias lodge from 1914 to 1961. Its unique architectural features include a two-story native limestone design with symmetrical façades facing Main and Locust Streets. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
