Roxie Theater - independent cinema institution

The Roxie Theater on 16th Street opened in the early 20th century and is one of the longest-running neighborhood movie theaters in the United States. It programs independent, documentary, revival, and local-film screenings and hosts community film festivals and events. San Francisco residents regularly attend the Roxie for repertory series and premieres by Bay Area filmmakers.
