Madame Walker Theatre Center

The Madame Walker Theatre Center was completed in 1927 as part of the Madame Walker Building, developed by entrepreneur Sarah Breedlove (Madame C.J. Walker). It was built to house offices and a performance venue serving Indianapolis's African American community and continues to operate as a cultural and performance center. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has undergone restoration to preserve its historic auditorium and façade.
