Lansdowne Building

The Lansdowne Building, originally known as Range Bazaar, is a historic commercial complex in Mysore, India, built over a century ago to serve various business needs. Commissioned by Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X in honor of the Viceroy's visit, it features a unique architectural design using wood, iron, and limestone. The building has faced challenges, including a partial collapse in 2012 that resulted in fatalities, prompting restoration efforts that have been delayed due to further structural issues. This heritage site, described by poet D. V. Gundappa as an 'ornamental festoon of the city,' awaits reconstruction, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Mysore's rich history and architectural heritage.
