1966 Texas Western (UTEP) NCAA basketball championship

Texas Western College (now UTEP) won the 1966 NCAA men's basketball championship under coach Don Haskins, defeating the University of Kentucky 72–65. The Texas Western starting lineup featured five Black players in the championship game, a first for an NCAA title team, and the victory is widely cited as a milestone in the desegregation of college basketball. UTEP honors Don Haskins and that 1966 team on its El Paso campus, including through the Don Haskins Center named for the coach.
